Sponsors are members who are committed to working and living the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions to the best of their ability. Sponsors share the program up to their level of experience and in doing so strengthen their own recovery through this service to others. Our literature recommends working with a Sponsor. To find a sponsor, look for someone in the rooms who is using the program with good recovery and who you feel comfortable with sharing your experience strength and hope.
Sponsorship is not required, but members have found it to be a valuable opportunity to gain more personal understanding of the program of Al-Anon. Having more personal support between meetings can help members apply the tools of the Al-Anon program.
